First Timers Guide
The following advice is given by John as at october 2011
Never has there been so much choice,in the last few years there has been a mass of new studios opening across the country and even though they may look the part and be registered with the council this offers no proof of there expertise or skill. It is entirely up to you to enquire and satisfy yourselfas to their experience and capabilities.
Have they been in business long?
Are their claims and assurances in writing?
Many places claim of long histories and lie of where and how they were taught," I worked abroad for years" is a common one (do they have photographic proof)?
If they will not or can not put there history and claims in writing, turn away and look elsewhere
WHAT DESIGN SHOULD I CHOOSE?
This is a personal choice and your artist can advise but never choose for you, but might sometimes refuse to do a tattoo he deems unsuitable, remember a tattoo should be regarded as permanent, even with the success of a lasers some tattoos remain permanent and removal cannot be Guaranteed
WHERE SHOULD I PUT THE TATTOO?
Again your choice, but try standing naked in front of a mirror and mark the area with a pen, then move around and check the asthetics of your choice, then maybe add clothing to see its appearance in everyday situations, its doubtful that you will want it to be seen at all times so its propably best that some clothes can cover it.
WHAT IS THE DANGER OF DISEASE OR INFECTION?
None: if you use a trusted skilled studio, and I can only speak for Dragonfashions, Here we do not sterilize anything! as everything we use is single use disposable if the artist you choose has a metal grip and tube on his machine it is not single use and will have (hopefully) been sterilized but google "autoclave sterilization" and you will find that the cjd virus is not necessarily killed and so you must agree disposal is the only safe method
SHOULD I HAVE A SMALL ONE TO TRY IT OUT FIRST?
Try to think hard about what you REALLY want and go for it, 80% of people who think like this later regret their choice and get an add on or cover up, try to do it right first time!
Now the real big one DOES IT HURT?
Yep it hurts!! but not so much as it should put you off I have tattoo,d literally thousands in my 30 year career, do you realy think this would be the case if it was so bad? again if your artist knows his job irritation will be minimal but to help yourself enter the studio after having a light meal or breakfast relax and you never know you may even enjoy it!.
Oh a final question for you consideration. Why is that place so cheap if it is so good?
the only logical reason is that they are not good and need the work so must offer cheap rates but GOOD TATTOOS ARE NOT CHEAP & CHEAP TATTOOS ARE NOT GOOD but can be expensive to correct at a later stage when you realize your error..................................
